What is an EEG test? An electroencephalogram (EEG) is a non-invasive and pain-free test that records the electrical activity of the brain. This recording is then used to assess the health and function of your brain to make an informed assessment.
We utilise state-of-the-art EEG equipment to ensure precise results, and take time to explain the process, answer questions, and ensure you’re as comfortable as possible. We welcome adult and paediatric EEG referrals.

An EEG test is a recording obtained from small electrodes taped to the scalp. During the recording, over-breathing and flashing lights may be used to test the effects on the brain’s rhythm. It is usually used to investigate turns, epilepsy, and other brain disorders.

A prolonged EEG test where electrodes are applied to the scalp and worn over a 24-hour period. The equipment is applied by our Technician at SJOG Neurology, then worn at home while the recording is obtained and returned to SJOG Neurology the following day. As such, you will need two appointments 24 hours apart — each one takes approximately 60 to 90 minutes.
